Housing Rehabilitation
Barcelona, Spain
2014
Project Architect: Makoto Fukuda
A rehabilitation work of an apartment in the gothic area of Barcelona. The work was realized according to the concept of “House is a garden for living”, as each element of the house is situated as piece of a garden: time (aged original elements like bricks wall, hidraulico mosaic tiles, wooden beams), plants, white abstracted surfaces and colors are recomposed through architectural devices. These are: a plants gallery – 40cm depth exterior space brought into the interior space – who helps for growing plants and earning huge luminosity; original hand made enameled ceramic tiles, who generate vibration on the plane wall and associate ambients with their colours and organic forms. Efficient structure reforcement-hibrid and minimum treatment for showing aged wooden beams. The contrast between abstraction and materiality of the wall and floor generate lightness and gravity.
