Minamora bench
Urban furniture
2014-2015
Project Architect: Makoto Fukuda and Benedetta Tagliabue
Client: Italcementi
Urban furniture made of UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete) for the 2015 Milan Universal Expo. This urban furniture is composed of two undulating UHPC panels. One of the most important design aims was to generate enclosed empty spaces within the form of the furniture. Another was to produce a modular system that could produce an undulating landscape like a water surface on the ground that invites people to come together. MINAMO means water surface in Japanese, M’innamoro means I’m falling in love in Italy. That is the origen of the name of the furniture.
